Accepting the CCP narrative is not a prerequisite of liking parts of Chinese culture. Actually, you can only truly appreciate the finer points and achievements of Chinese Civilization when you look beyond CCP. They have corrupted what was once admirable.

The same goes for any authoritarian regime like North Korea, Iranian Islamist, or now Taliban of Afghanistan or the past and in some aspects not so past, Russia etc. Anywhere that suppresses the individual, suppresses the culture because the beauty of culture cannot survive without voluntary participation (freedom).

Blind obedience, unwavering loyalty to an ideology that you don’t even understand is not culture – it is just a routine which becomes a routine tradition. It is anything but culture, and it deserves zero respect.
